It’s usually easy to spot a Rocky Patel cigar from a mile away, but this one was different. No RP branding, just the words “Habano Especial” written on the band.
When I first picked up this cigar, it felt like a small lead pipe. Heavy and rock-solid from the cap to about halfway. There was no give whatsoever.
I attempted to light this stick, but the draw was excessively tight. It was so tight that I had to use a poker right from the start, but it didn’t make much of a difference. Next, I tried cutting the cap a little lower, which improved the draw slightly, but it wasn’t very good, and understandably, the wrapper began to unravel.
I made several attempts to get this cigar going, but it just never seemed to come to life. I wouldn’t put my name on this cigar either; it’s a good call from Rocky Patel!
