Montenegro Batista

The Montenegro Batista gets amazing reviews and from the first draw I understand why. I think this is going to be the perfect celebration cigar!

For me the first draw of most cigars is usually not the best, and it takes little while for the flavours to come and smooth out. This cigar is certainly an exception.

First things first what a good looking cigar – great size with a nice firm pack. The firmness indicated to me a firm draw but this is not the case. The best word to define the draw resistance is – perfect. Right in the sweet spot.

Immediately after lighting the first draw is incredibly smooth; a good amount of smoke with subtle flavours of cedar and white pepper. The finish has a little sweetness to boot which is to my liking.

The reason I chose this cigar tonight is in celebration of my wife being pregnant. Most of us have had a hard time this year because of obvious reasons, but for me it has been the best year of my life! I got married, enjoyed an amazing honeymoon, welcomed our new dog Lucy into our home and now we are preparing to be parents! Don’t get me wrong there were some very hard times this year also, but the good greatly outweighed the bad. Life is good!

Back to the cigar now and dried fruit/trail mix and cedar is the staple here. I would like to say this is a mild cigar but the flavour is far from understated. It is just incredibly smooth.

Mild florals, salt and white pepper change it up for the last third; a bit of a zing for the final hurrah.

So this IS the cigar – I love it when a cigar comes and blows your past smokes out of the water! I don’t know if it was the best cigar I have ever smoked but right now I cannot think of any contenders.
