Plasencia Alma Fuerte Generacion V Salomon

I don’t know why I sat on this review for the last two years, but here we go.

Tonight I pulled out this beautiful cigar to celebrate my 45th birthday. Honestly, there’s no better occasion for an amazing smoke. The timing could have been better though — the rain started rolling in and my balcony definitely doesn’t have enough cover, so I spent most of the session trying not to get soaked.

This 7×58 Figurado is an absolutely stunning cigar. The construction is flawless and the presentation is pure class.

The flavour profile is dark and rich, with notes of tobacco, leather, and coffee throughout.

I’ve smoked a number of Figurado vitolas before and they almost always seem to develop some strange burn issue at some point. But this is Plasencia, so naturally the burn and draw were basically perfect from start to finish.

Rain is usually relaxing and meditative for me, but that changes quickly when you’re actively being rained on.

Even so, this thing smoked beautifully. The draw was spot on and the smoke output was ridiculous — maybe even a little too good when you’re trying not to ash all over yourself while dodging rain.

Toward the end I started picking up a touch of bitter coffee, although I was probably smoking a little faster than usual trying to stay ahead of the weather.

Overall, 85 minutes very well spent. Any cigar that keeps you committed while sitting on a half-covered balcony in the rain has to be doing something right.

Price $? Can’t put a price on birthday cigars.
