Privada test blend Maduro torpedo 6 1/4 x 52

Another presumed AJF test blend. Let’s go.

Straight away I’m getting a little mustiness on the wrapper along with some dark tobacco aromas. The cold draw is extremely light, almost too light. It’s wearing a dark wrapper and comes in a decent-sized torpedo, although aren’t all torpedos supposed to look impressively sized?

Going in, I expected a dark, rich maduro loaded with strength and heavy tobacco flavours. Surprisingly, it’s much lighter than expected. There’s a faint note of aged dark tobacco, but the ultra-light draw seems to be keeping the profile fairly muted. Even so, it still manages to put out a respectable amount of smoke.

This cigar has been resting in my humidor for around 10 months now.

Overall, this wasn’t a bad smoke. The wrapper started to unravel as the session went on, and the draw remained a little too loose for my liking, but it was still enjoyable enough. The flavour profile stayed quite subdued throughout, with nothing really jumping out or demanding attention. It burned faster than expected but, to its credit, never turned bitter.

Not a cigar I’ll be rushing back to, but certainly not one I regretted smoking either.
