I purchased this cigar on the recommendation of my local cigar store, described as their most premium blend for the Joya Range.
Scent from fresh is an inviting blend of vanilla raisin biscuits. Smooth wrapper with a consistent pack apart from a slightly lumpy cap.
Quality band but it’s simply too big for this vitola, edging on inconvenient. I have to say the words “reserva especial” had my expectations set high.
The first few draws had hints of oat cookies, peanuts and wood, such a great combination, I’m impressed so far.
In 2013 Joya de Nicaragua released Cuatro Cinco Edición Limitada, an exclusive cigar containing 100% Nicaraguan fillers and five-year old ligeros aged inside vintage oak barrels. Now at this point I really feel like an amateur because I was not aware that there are three different types of tobacco leaves: Ligeros top, Seco Middle and volado are the bottom leaves.
I now see why this cigar was recommended, medium strength with great full flavours of nut, sweet wood and just a hint of pepper, incredibly enjoyable.
